The life and legacy of a classic racing sailboat . . .

The Vineyard Haven Fifteen is a twenty-one foot racing sloop designed by Erford Burt of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. The first, Silverheels, was launched in 1934; the last, Tyche, was launched in 1970. Adopted by the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club, the Fifteens raced as a class for 43 consecutive summers, from 1936 to 1979, and competed in regattas in Edgartown, Falmouth, Nantucket, and New Bedford.

Only fifty Fifteens were ever built. At least twelve still exist, and at least five continue to be actively sailed.

This is their story.
